Candidates from EU countries
- Recognition of studies for EU Member States, EEA and Swiss Confederation citizens and their family members, holders of long-term/permanent residency permit in one of the aforementioned states, for admission to undergraduate programmes / Bachelor Studies
- Citizens of an EU, EEA country and the Swiss Confederation need to request and to obtain the recognition of their pre-university studies obtained abroad before they register for admission for Bachelor studies. The recognition document will be issued by the Romanian Ministry of Education and it will contain the level, main field of studies and/or specialization compared to the Romanian education system.
- After receiving the documents regarding the previous studies obtained abroad and grades recognition, the candidates will participate in the admission process in the same conditions as the Romanian citizens, including the submission of the application file, requested documents for admission at the faculty, possible exams or file contests, academic offer (budgeted/self-sponsored places), tuition fee.

Important information!
Foreign citizens, family members of Romanian citizens, holders of a temporary residence permit, must submit the proof either of an employment contract or of registration as unemployed person in order to benefit, under the law, of equal treatment with Romanian citizens regarding the study enrollment.
Diplomas from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus need to bear the Hague Apostille Convention from the authorities of the country that issued the document.
Diplomas issued in countries which are not party to the Haga Convention must be authenticated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country, and the Embassy of Romania in that country.
The certificate for recognition will be sent to the university or issued to the owner of the study documents / another person empowered by the owner of the study documents.
Attention!
- The Ministry of Education (National Centre for Diploma Recognition – CNRED)is free to ask for any further evidence concerning one’s studies.
- No application is examined if any of the required documents is missing, or if the application form is not filled out correctly.
- The evaluation of the recognition file takes approximately 30 working days since the file is registered at the Romanian Ministry of Education. The processing time could be extended in case additional checks are required.

University of Petroșani offers a Romanian language preparatory year for the candidates who are not familiar with the Romanian language and opt to follow a study program (Bachelor or Master level) which is available only in Romanian language.
In order to apply for the Romanian language preparatory year, the candidates must choose the Bachelor/Master/PhD program they would like to study after the preparatory year.

- University of Petroșani offers a Romanian language preparatory year for the candidates who are not familiar with the Romanian language and opt to follow a study program which is available only in Romanian language.
- The Romanian language preparatory year follow the structure of the academic year (October-June).
- Non-refundable processing fee for the admission file: 100 EUR.
- Tuition fee: (Engineering Sciences 2700 Euro/academic year and for Social Sciences 2250 Euro/academic year).
- In order to apply for the Romanian language preparatory year, the candidates must choose first the Bachelor/Master/PhD program they would like to study after the preparatory year and to fill out the Section II of the application form accordingly.
- The Letter of Acceptance will be issued on the chosen field and you will study specialized language, depending on the profile chosen in Romanian.

- The application file will be processed by the university. The accepted files will be sent to the Ministry of Education for final evaluation. Total processing time – approx. 40 working days.
- The university will inform the candidate about the resolution of the Ministry of Education
- For the accepted files, the acceptance letter will be uploaded by the university on the admission platform. Please read carefully the steps you need to follow after receiving the Letter of Acceptance on following link
- For the rejected files, the candidate will be informed via the admission platform.
- Pay the tuition fee and upload the proof on the admission platform. You have 20 calendar days since receiving the letter of acceptance, to complete this task (Engineering Sciences 2700 Euro/academic year and for Social Sciences 2250 Euro/academic year.
- After receiving the tuition fee, the university will issue and upload on the admission platform a confirmation of payment and on-campus accommodation.
- Apply for a study visa at the Romanian Embassy. The visa application is a personal approach and the university is not in the position to interfere in the process. We advise all candidates to apply for the study visa immediately after receiving the letter of acceptance and the confirmation of payment/accommodation letter.
- Upload a copy of your visa in the admission platform.
- For enrollment at the faculty, the candidate must submit the documents mentioned on the Acceptance letter and the confirmation of payment.
The candidates who paid the tuition fee, but do not enroll at the faculty for the reason -visa rejected, may submit a request in 15 calendar days since visa rejection, via email for the reimbursement of the tuition fee.

- Pay the tuition fee, 3150 Euro/academic year, and send it to international@upet.ro. You have 20 calendar days since receiving the letter of acceptance, to complete this task.
- After receiving the tuition fee, the university will issue and upload on the admission platform a confirmation of payment and on-campus accommodation.
- Apply for a study visa at the Romanian Embassy. The visa application is a personal approach and the university is not in the position to interfere in the process. We advise all candidates to apply for the study visa immediately after receiving the letter of acceptance and the confirmation of payment/accommodation letter.
- Upload a copy of your visa in the admission platform.
- For enrollment at the faculty, the candidate must submit the documents mentioned on the Acceptance letter and the confirmation of payment.
- The candidates who paid the tuition fee, but do not enroll at the faculty for the reason -visa rejected, may submit a request in 15 calendar days since visa rejection, via email for the reimbursement of the tuition fee.
Scholarships offered by the Romanian State to foreign citizens through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)
Each year, the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides a number of scholarships to citizens from non-EU countries. Only candidates having good results in education, respectively an average of the study years, for the last graduated school, of at least 7 (seven) corresponding to the scoring system in Romania or the “Good” score, as the case are eligible.

Applicants may select their study program of interest in all fields. For Bachelor and Master, only study programs in Romanian language are available, thus promoting the Romanian language and culture. However, at PhD level, applicants can also opt for a program in English or a foreign language set by the doctoral school. A preparatory year in Romanian is also granted prior to enrolling in the study program of choice, for those not speaking Romanian language. The required documents include diplomas, transcripts, birth certificate and passport, CV – all described in the application process.
The scholarship application can be sent ONLY through the Study in Romania platform.

Applications can be submitted between December and March every year, with the selection results being announced by middle of July. Upon selection, additional formalities, such as obtaining a visa, will be required.
