75 years of activity in higher education in Romania
University of Petrosani

The University of Petroșani has a long and beautiful tradition, being the successor of the “School of Bridges and Roads, Mining and Architecture” that has been operating in Bucharest since 1864, and since 1948 in Petroșani, initially under the name of the Coal Institute.

After 1990, by diversifying the university fields and specializations, the Mining Institute of Petroșani became the Technical University (1991) and later the University of Petroșani (1995).

Based on this strong academic tradition and the prestige it enjoys at home and abroad, our University today provides the necessary conditions for its students to acquire a high qualification in many and varied fields, training in all forms of education. The training of specialists is carried out in three faculties: the Faculty of Mining, the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Science.

In 2021, the University of Petroșani was institutionally evaluated by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and was rated "HIGH CONFIDENCE".
