DOCTORAL STUDIES

July 01, 2024 – September 08, 2024 (September 8 – until 23:59): Online registration of candidates – submission and checking of applications

September 9, 2024 (15:00): Publication of the lists of registered candidates who will take part in the competition tests

September 11-17, 2024: Taking the language examination, if applicable, as well as the specialized examination in person or online – in exceptional circumstances, at the request of the candidates with the approval of the Director of the CSUD.

September 18, 2024 (by 15:00): Publication of the provisional lists of candidates allocated to the state-funded places, fee-paying places, those on hold and those rejected, if any

September 20, 2024 (until 12:00 noon): Appeals regarding the conduct of the admission contest are submitted to the secretariat of the CSDD, with registration number at the University Registry.

September 20, 2024 (by 16:00): The Appeals Committee will settle the appeals. Display of the final lists of successful candidates.

September 23-25, 2024 (900-14:00): Confirmation of the place by the candidates admitted to the doctoral studies program, by submitting the original baccalaureate, bachelor’s and master’s diplomas for candidates admitted on budget and by submitting the original or certified copy of the diplomas for conformity with the original, as well as by paying the corresponding fees for candidates admitted on fee-paying places. September 25, 2024 (by 15:00): Publication of the lists of candidates admitted to state-funded places, fee-paying places and those rejected, after confirmation of places

September 26, 2024 (by 15:00): Confirmation of participation of pending candidates in the doctoral program by payment of the corresponding fees and/or by submitting original diplomas, if applicable.

September 27, 2024 (by 15:00): Display of final lists

Required documents:
a. Europass curriculum vitae;
b. list of published scientific works (if applicable);
c. baccalaureate diploma;
d. diploma of completion of bachelor’s degree/engineering diploma (or its equivalent), with related annexes, as appropriate (transcript or diploma supplement);
e. master’s degree diplomas (with the corresponding attachments as appropriate: transcript of records respectively diploma supplement).
f. birth certificate;
g. marriage certificate or other change of name, if applicable;
h. identity card;
i. the medical certificate issued by the family doctor, according to which the candidate is fit to pursue studies in higher education;
j. proof of payment of the application fee for the admission to doctoral studies;
k. the acceptance of coordination, signed by the chosen doctoral supervisor, mentioning the doctoral topic for which the candidate is competing, and acknowledged by the candidate. (Annex 2);
l. the doctoral research proposal, in PDF format, based on the chosen doctoral topic, according to the requirements in Annex 3.


The online registration platform can be accessed from any desktop computer/laptop/tablet/mobile phone that has access to the Internet and an upgraded web browser (recommended: Firefox, Chrome). The application is available online at https://admitere.upet.ro. Go to www.upet.ro, section Admission or directly to the web address: https://admitere.upet.ro and create an access account in the application.

You can pay the registration fee:

– online by card, at step 8, from the online admissions platform, by secure payment through mobilpay.ro.
– by OP (payment order to UNIVERSITATEA DIN PETROSANI, CUI 4374849, Trezoreria Petrosani, RO81 TREZ 3682 0F33 0500 XXXX, specifying the field for which the payment is made, the candidate’s name and surname);
– at the cashier’s office of the university, specifying the field for which the candidate opts.

The admission competition for doctoral studies consists of 2 tests:
a. a language proficiency examination in one of the languages in international circulation, which will be taken before the interview and will be eliminatory. The language proficiency exam will be taken at the University’s “Eurolanguage Linguistic Center”, which issues a certificate of language proficiency, minimum level B1.
b. a specialized examination, which will be taken only by candidates who have obtained the language proficiency certificate and consists of an interview of the admission committee with the candidate, based on a Doctoral Research Proposal, elaborated on the basis of the research topic put out by a doctoral supervisor

Admission criteria:

The overall average for admission to doctoral studies is composed of the weighted average of the average obtained by the candidate at the bachelor’s degree examination (25%) and the grade obtained at the interview (75%).

Admission will be made by doctoral fields and research topics, in descending order of the general admission average obtained by the candidates, within the limit of the places available. The minimum average for admission to doctoral studies is 7 (seven).
